Pre-Planned Preventative Maintenance
At IEM Drainage, we offer our clients a pre-planned preventative maintenance (PPM) service. This service is crucial in identifying and resolving potential drainage issues before they actually take effect. Within this service, we offer full site external and internal drainage and pipework descales and cleaning. The external side includes work on surface water and foul main drainage, Aco and slot channel drainage and gullies. See our blockages page for our 24 hour emergency drainage services.
The internal works include full stack-pipe descales, urinal trap and waste pipework descales, replacing traps and re-piping waste if required. This helps to prevent blockages which can cause flooding and overspill, nasty foul smells, etc. This is a valuable service for clients who like to keep their site clean, fresh and free flowing.
The PPM works are carried out by using HPWJ (High pressure water jetting) and our range of electro mechanical machinery. Our CCTV camera equipment can also be utilised to inspect areas of concern both internally and externally.
Pipework Cleaning
We have a range of different equipment for when we are cleaning pipework. This includes our high pressure water jetting equipment and our electro mechanical machinery. This pipework clean we did in the image below was on the third floor. This made it more difficult to use our jetter so we opted for the electro mechanical picote machine. We carried the machine up onto the roof area so that we could machine down the pipework from there for the first stage of cleaning. Then carried that machine back down and cleaned the internal pipework. This really did the trick and the pipework was very clean and in great condition after the works.
Aco & Slot Channel Drainage
Aco and slot channel drainage require regular cleaning to keep things flowing freely. Heavy rain can cause major flooding if aco and slot channels are not maintained properly. Aco channels are commonly found in car parks, retail parks, supermarkets, large distribution sites, etc. Channels build up quickly with silt and leaves. This leads to blockages and flooding which can be highly inconvenient for the site involved.

As you can see, this aco channel drain in the image below was completely blocked from end to end. It took a full day to clean. There was a considerable quantity of silt removed from this channel. We removed the silt and then jetted the outlet to get it clear and then flushed through and washed down the entire channel.
A lot of the channel grates were broken and sections of the channel itself were broken. This is what happens when channel drainage is not maintained regularly. The client didn’t want to have any repairs done which is fair enough but they did agree to put in place a PPM Maintenance program to have their channel drainage cleaned every six months.
