Other Services
At IEM Drainage, we offer a range of other services as well as those listed on our website menu bar. These include gutter cleaning with our ladder free “SkyVac” system, greasetrap servicing and blockage clearance and pump box servicing and cleaning. These pumps are mostly the Drain Minor, Drain Major, Drain King brands used in commercial kitchens and coffee shops, etc.
Pump Box Servicing

Coffee shops are one of the main customers for this type of pump. If they are not cleaned and serviced regularly, these pump boxes become a breeding ground for infestations of flies and even maggots. They also begin to give off a very nasty foul smell which becomes highly unpleasant. Coffee shop customers will then begin to complain about the situation and the business will lose custom. We use our wetvacs to clean out these pump boxes to keep them clean and fresh. Then we flush them through and test the pumps for correct operation. We highly recommend a pump box service clean every three months to keep on top of things. Take a look at our Pre-Planned page for more details.
Greasetraps

As you can see, this greasetrap was in a bit of a state when we arrived on site. The outlet wastepipe was blocked and this was causing overspill and flooding in the kitchen area. The staff on site used a fair bit of blue roll to try and stem the tide. Alas, to no avail! We used our wetvac to remove the contents of the greasetrap. We used our electro mechanical hand machine to clean through the wastepipe. Then, we cleaned all of the components, food and oil catchers, etc.
We flushed the greasetrap through with water and cleaned up the floor and underneath the sink unit to leave the site clean and fresh. The restaurant could then operate efficiently and concentrate on their business.

Greasetraps present the same issues as pump boxes if they are not cleaned and maintained on a regular basis. Today’s greasetraps are very good and operate automatically to separate food and oil from water. However, they are still susceptible to blockages and nasty foul smells. This is why it’s important to have a PPM(Pre-Planned Maintenance)program in place to have these cleaned out. Again, we highly recommend a PPM service every three months and also basic daily cleans by the staff on site who should empty the food and oil catchers throughout the working day.
The old greasetrap in the images above hadn’t actually been cleaned for around two years. Hence the very poor condition of it inside. The staff on site didn’t even know that it was there as it was hidden away in a rarely used empty storeroom area. The customer agreed to have this greasetrap replaced with a modern unit and put in place a regular PPM service.
Gutter Cleaning

Leaves, silt and moss buildup can be a real pain when it comes to guttering. They eventually lead to blocked rainwater downpipes, overflowing gutters, etc. We offer households a gutter cleaning service. For this, we use our “SkyVac” ladder free system. This makes the work safer, quicker and easier to complete. It then leaves our customer’s guttering clean and freeflowing. Contact us for more information on this valuable service!
