Wastepipe blockages are very common and frequent in commercial kitchen environments such as restaurants, coffee shops and pubs. Food and oils especially build up in the pipework and cause it to back up. We have even found kitchen cloths, sponges and blue roll blocking pipework. Our range of electro mechanical machinery deals with these blockages quickly and efficiently. This leaves our customers working areas flowing freely so that they can concentrate on their businesses.

The images above were from a recurring drainage issue where the customer was getting frequent blockages in their upstairs facilities. After using our CCTV camera, we found heavy scale build up in the stack pipe and the rest bend. Using our high pressure water jetting equipment, we removed the scale build up. This left a clean, free flowing system.

After being called out to a blockage, this is what we found. As you can see from the images above, there are a lot of stones being brought back into the chamber while jetting this line. This indicates either a full collapse or a hole in the top of the pipework underground. A hole could possibly be patched whereas a full collapse would mean a dig up and repair. This turned out to be a full collapse and the drain line was dug up and repaired. Fortunately, the chamber and pipework were only on a shallow depth which made this repair so much easier and quicker to complete.

This call out for a blocked toilet seemed like a pretty routine job at the outset. It turned out to be a bit more problematic though in the end. We had problems trying to clear the blockage from the inside of the building so we decided to investigate further on the external side. We eventually found this buried chamber. After using our high pressure water jetting equipment, we cleared the blockage quickly enough. We advised the customer to always leave this chamber with easy access from now on.

This just goes to show, no two days and no two jobs are the same in the drainage industry. This is actually quite a common occurrence in drainage. People often cover up their drains under a new kitchen extension, a fence or even a garden makeover without really considering the consequences of doing so. People should always leave their drainage accessible at all times!
